  • Not Forgotten…

I know it has been awhile since the last post, but rest assured, I am still here. Lot’s of busy work going on right now. Website revisioning, band work, rearing a child, day job, etc. I will be posting more soon, I promise.

  • Inspired by recent postings elsewhere regarding picture book dummy templates, here is mine. I am wildly intrigued by and enthusiastic about the picture book form and I plan on using this stylized template to produce more than a few picture books myself. • 20 Questions

Another great sight with very interesting interviews. I love reading about cartoonists’ work, philosophy and tools. Speaking of tools, I first saw this sight today after it was mentioned on another one of my favorite sights, the awesome Comic Tools at http://comictool.blogspot.com/. Enjoy both of them, please. And pay respect to these great artists by purchasing their work.

  • Cufon - via Cameron Moll

Cameron Moll explains a very interesting and optimistic alternative to sIFR, one that does not include Flash, on his Authentic Boredom blog. I highly recommend checking it out, and I plan on playing around with Cufon a great deal in the near future.

  • Review of the new Sharpie Pens
Being a pen aficionado, I was delighted to spot the new Sharpie Pens at the store last night. I had to pick up a pack and test them out.
The first thing that struck me was how unexpected the colors were. While they come in standard black, blue, red, etc. they hues are anything but standard. The black is more a very dark grey, which is fine by me. The blue and red, though, are very interesting. The blue is not the standard blue as found in most ballpoints and gel rollers, it is lighter, almost more neon, and I love it. It really jumps off of the page in my Moleskine and will be great for sketching out ideas. The red borders on a dark pink, but it too jumps to life on the page, and will be great for marking notes on my sketches and nearly anything else.
True to the ads, I have had no problem whatsoever regarding the pens bleeding through paper, which is a delight. The pens are fairly smooth, although still a far cry from my trusty Lamy 2000f fountain pen. Still, they will be a great addition to the arsenal and with them being from Sharpie, my notes will last a lifetime thanks to their permanent nature.
I recommend these to anyone looking for a good, reliable pen with a color palette that is familiar, yet enough off the beaten path that it will add new life to the pages of your notebook!

  • The New Mason's Case Website

Check out the new website for my band. I have been working on it over the past week and will be populating it with content throughout the month.
